At the beginning of the Meiji period the Japanese government, wanting to protect its image and make a good impression on the West, outlawed tattoos, and irezumi took on connotations of criminality. Nevertheless, fascinated foreigners went to Japan seeking the skills of tattoo artists, and traditional tattooing continued underground.

Tattooing was legalized by the occupation forces in 1945, but has retained its image of criminality. For many years, traditional Japanese tattoos were associated with the yakuza, Japan's notorious mafia, and many businesses in Japan (such as public baths, fitness centers and hot springs) still ban customers with tattoos.

Tattooing and other forms of body decoration and body modification, as in much of the western world, are gaining in popularity in Japan. However, Japanese young people who choose to get tattooed are most often choosing "one point" designs -- small designs that can be completed in one sitting -- usually in the American or tribal styles. More recently, however sanskrit Siddham script tattoos are becoming more and more fashionable.

Traditional irezumi is still done by specialist tattooists, but it is painful, time-consuming and expensive: a typical traditional body suit (covering the arms, back, upper legs and chest, but leaving an untattooed space down the center of the body) can take one to five years of weekly visits to complete and cost in excess of US$30,000.

Tribal Tattoos - Sexiest Spots For Men to Get Inked

There's something very cool about tribal tattoos that everyone can't help but notice. Maybe it's the free-flowing lines or the intricacy of the designs. Maybe it's the rough elements mixed into the softness of the drawing. Whatever it is, men and women love them and place them all over their bodies.

So we know tribal tattoos can be drawn pretty much anywhere on the body but I want to cover a few of the very sexy spots for every man to consider putting their next tribal tattoo.

Sexy Spots for Men to Get Inked

Tribal tattoos can be put on your greatest features and most defined muscles. There's nothing sexier for a woman than to see body art atop a plump mass of muscle. That is typically why you'll see tribal tattoos wrapped around a man's bicep as an armband. But let's step out of the box here and explore what other sexy spots guys can put their tribal tattoos.

Pectoral muscles

Tattoos can be in a circular pattern on top of this muscle or integrated in a piece that comes over the shoulder and across the pec.

The side of a man's neck

This is VERY sexy because when you have a shirt on, a female will wonder what the rest of the tattoo (and your body) looks like. The neck is a very sexual and sensual part of the body anyway so putting art here is all the more inviting.

Well-defined forearms (bulging veins and all)

You can place a linear tribal tattoo on the underside or top of your forearm. The skin under the forearm is more tender so getting it there may come across as more sexy and daring but another female could have a different opinion so there's no clear cut answer to that spot.

Upper back, across the top of your shoulder blades

If you have nice back and shoulder muscles, you can place a tattoo there that extends over your trapezius muscle or even down your spine. You can also extend the design slightly up the back of your neck for more sex appeal.

Abs

You can get inked on your side, down your ribcage, across your obliques. This is really sexy too if you have the v-cut in your abs.

Basically, if you have a sexy body, strategically placing classic tattoos will only make it sexier. Tribal tattoos can be sized to fit anyone's muscles no matter the size so you don't have to look like Arnold to have a sexy ink job. And remember, "tribal" is a style so you're not limited to any specific design.

Guys, get instant access and view pages and pages of the most unique tribal tattoos imaginable. Don't waste your time looking at generic (far-from-sexy) tattoos that everyone and their mother has seen!

If you're serious about your body art, you'll appreciate the HUGE selection of tribal tattoo designs to choose from and the quality of art showcased.

Tattoo fanatics, tattoo artists, and first-time tattoo getters, we welcome you all! Visit http://www.tribal--tattoos.org for instant access!

Tribal tattoos ideas for men

A tattoo is a marking made by inserting dark, indelible ink into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment for decorative or other reasons. Tattoos on humans are a type of decorative body modification, while tattoos on animals are most commonly used for identification or branding. The term "tattoo" or from Tahiti, "Tatau" is first referred to by Joseph Banks, the naturalist aboard Cook's ship the "Endeavour" in 1769 where he mentions it in his journal. To paraphrase. he states, "I shall now mention the way they mark themselves indelibly, each of them is so marked by their humor or disposition". Tattooing has been practiced for centuries worldwide. The Ainu, the indigenous people of Japan, traditionally wore facial tattoos. Today one can find Berbers of Tamazgha (North Africa), Māori of New Zealand, Arabic people in East-Turkey and Atayal of Taiwan with facial tattoos. Tattooing was widespread among Polynesian peoples and among certain tribal groups in the Taiwan, Philippines, Borneo, Mentawai Islands, Africa, North America, South America, Mesoamerica, Europe, Japan, Cambodia, New Zealand and Micronesia. Despite some taboos surrounding tattooing, the art continues to be popular in many parts of the world.

Tribal Lowerback Body Tattoos For Women

tribal back tattoos for women

When it comes to women and tattoos, some of the most popular designs can be found on the lower back – as well as the location, there are certain tattoos that are also more popular

One of the most popular areas of tattooing these days is lower back tattooing. I have seen so many girls with tattoos on the small of their back that it truly shows off well. I have seen girls wear flowers, boyfriend names, and many other types of tattoos on their lower backs.

The reason that girls do it is because they want to show off. Now if you put this together with why girls wear short jeans, super short shorts, small shirts and what not. That is the only reason I can seem to come up with because I have asked girls before that wear tattoos on their lower backs and they said they wear short clothes to show off their tattoos. Nothing wrong with that obviously, it's the current popular trend that is going on.

The tattoos are located small of the back or on top of the buttocks. Having the types of tattoos that girls wear on their back, it is very easy to realize what type of tattoos girls are wearing, which when males look at the girls backs, they get turned on. That is how girls get the type of guys they want; they lure them by their feminine charm. Males get the 'sensual' type of feeling when they look at girl's backs and their tattoos, which helps females.

It truly is easy to understand why they are so popular these days. There are only a few places on a women's body that are sensual and attractive and women try to expose them as much as possible. Some of the most sensual and most attractive places on a women's body are the neck, lower back. One of the main reasons why lower back tattoos have gained such popularity is due to the fact that how easily you can hide them and how easy you can expose them. It truly makes it really easy on a women's body to hide and expose. Hide your tattoo by wearing something long or expose it by the cowgirl style. Although tattoos are nice and all, you should be very careful that if you work, most work places frown upon having a tattoo on any part of your body and if you do get hired and have a tattoo, do your best to hide the tattoo so you don't get fired!

Let me share a little bit of statistics with you. Nearly 25% of women in the United States between the ages of 18 and 50 have tattoo's and of those 25%, 20% of those women have lower back tattoos, that really tells you how serious some of these girls get. The hunger for intercourse is a big thing these days that lures guys into doing with girl's, tattoo plays a large role in this as well.

Let me share with you a few designs that are popular amongst the women on lower back tattooing:

- Lotus Flower
o The lotus flower on women's back is a great option for girls. The lotus flower has seedpods, flowers and buds, which if you may know, represent the past, present and the future.
o Tattoo combination is also a big thing for women these days. You can take heart tattoos, flower tattoos, thorns and many more types of tattoos and have them combined into something great on your lower back.

- Cross Designs
o Some of those girls that get tattoos and are religious, you can get a cross tattoo on your back to symbolize whatever you want.

- Dolphin Tattoos
o Another one of the main attractive tattoos that is popular these days. Some of the girls express their love for animals, nature and all of that jazz.

- Tribal Designs
o Are one of the most common lower back tattoo designs that you can really see on a women's lower back. I will have you know that some of the common used tribal designs are stars, moon, celtic style, sun and many more. It is good to understand that many tribal designs are an inspiration from Polynesia.

Regular women aren't the only ones with tattoos on their backs, there are Celebrity's that have tattoos on their body as well, specifically lower backs as well such as:

- Pamela Anderson having a tribal tattoo on her lower back.
- Julia Roberts having a tattoo of a butterfly on the bottom of her back.
- Angelina Jolie having a tattoo of a tiger on her back.
- Supermodel Anna Kournikova having a large star tattoo on her lower back.
- Nicky Hilton having a tattoo of the word "Hilton" on her back.
- There are many more tattoos on other celebrities as well, but these above ladies were the ones that were on the top of my head.

I'm going to remind you one more time that think before you come to final decision. Your tattoo is going to be on your forever, so you best make sure you get a tattoo that you really like and are going to keep it for a good while. Although there are tattoo removal shops out there, what's the point of getting a tattoo, going through the pain as well as spending all of that money only to go to a removal shop and to get it removed. Know what I mean?

Another thing I would like to warn you about is that you should wear loose clothes after you get a new tattoo on your lower back. Why? Reason being is that you don't want it to run against your new tattoo and cause un-necessary damage to it. If you do wear loose clothes, you will only be making the design artists job a tab bit easier and in return, you will get a better design to show off. Just let the tattoo heal for a few hours-to-days and you should be just fine.

Well, I hope you learned something new about lower back tattooing. I hope you will take the advise that I provided you with and learn from it. Good luck!
